Prof. Iva Ugrinova
Deputy Director
Prof. Iva Ugrinova has graduated in biotechnology from Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridsky". She obtained her Ph.D. degree in the Institute of Molecular biology, Bulgarian Academy of Sciences. At present Iva Ugrinova is a professor in the Institute of Molecular biology, head of "Structure and function of chromatin" department and deputy director of the Institute of Molecular biology.
​Prof. Evdokia Pasheva

Prof. Evdokia Alexandrova Pasheva has graduated in Chemistry from Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridsky". She obtained her Ph.D. degree in the Institute of Molecular biology, Bulgarian Academy of Sciences. At present Evdokia Pasheva is a professor, D.Sci. at the Institute of Molecular biology. In 2021 she was elected a corresponding member of BAS. The General Assembly of BAS elected Corr. Memb. Evdokia Pasheva as Vice-President of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences for a second term on 20 January 2025.
Assoc. Prof. Yordana Todorova
Associate professor
Yordana Todorova graduated in Biology from Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski". She defended her thesis at the Institute of Biodiversity and Ecosystem Studies at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, Department of Population Genetics. She conducted her postdoctoral specialization at the Institute of Genetics at the University of Vienna in Austria, after which she specialized for two years at the Karolinska Institute in Stockholm, Sweden. In 2009, she worked for six months at the Leiden Medical University in the Netherlands, in the Department of Human Genetics, under the "Marie Curie" project. She is currently an associate professor in the department.
Assoc. prof. Maria Petrova
Associate professor
Assoc. prof. Maria Petrova, PhD, holds a Bachelor's degree in Biology and a Master's degree in Molecular Biology (Genetics) from the Faculty of Biology of Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski". In 2014, she obtained the educational and scientific degree "Doctor" in Genetics from the Faculty of Biology of Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski". She is currently an associate professor in the department.
Dr. Shazie Myashkova

Dr. Shazie Myashkova holds a Bachelor's degree in Biology and a Master's degree in Biotechnology from Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski." She obtained her Ph.D. at the Institute of Molecular Biology in 2010. Shazie completed her postdoctoral specialization at the Flanders Institute of Biotechnology (VIB) in Belgium, where she spent two years. Currently, she is an assistant professor in the department.
Alexander Tzintzarov

Alexander Todorov Tzintzarov has graduated in 2020 from Sofia University „St. Kliment Ohridski“. Alexander holds a MSc degree in „Cell biology and pathology“. At present Alexander is a PhD student in Molecular Biology in the Institute of Molecular biology at the "Structure and function of chromatin" department.
Zlatina Vlahova
Research assistant
Zlatina Vlahova graduated with a BA in Molecular Biology from the Sofia University „St. Kliment Ohridski“. She holds a MSc in Biochemistry from the Sofia University „St. Kliment Ohridski“. Since 2022, Zlatina Vlahova has been a PhD student in Molecular biology in the department.
